A model maker has donated this replica of a lifeboat to Burnham-On-Sea’s lifeboat station.
Mick Knowles has been constructing miniature ships, boats and galleons for around 30 years, and has just completed a 1/12th scale model of a Waveney class lifeboat, which was based on a lifeboat serving at Hartlepool between 1977 and 1997.
Mick and his wife Pat live in South Derbyshire and often stop at Burnham-On-Sea during their regular trips to Cornwall. They were particularly impressed by the friendly reception they got in Burnham, and decided to donate the latest model.
This was accepted and the display case is now on show on the wall at Burnham lifeboat station.
Mick told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have always thought of Burnham as a friendly lifeboat station and are pleased to hand over this latest model.”
Lifeboat spokesman Mike Lang said: “We were extremely pleased to accept this, which is apparently Mick’s sixth lifeboat model. He is now working on a model of the Tamar lifeboat, based at Tenby. It is also good that visitors to our station be reminded of the distinguished service by other stations, volunteers and their lifeboats.
