Town councillors have raised an objection over plans by supermarket Lidl to introduce a new advertisement billboard outside its Burnham-On-Sea store.
Lidl in Oxford Street has applied for planning permission to introduce a six metre wide billboard built on timber uprights in its car park.
But town councillors on the planning applications commitee say the structure would be out of keeping.
“Members of the Town Council consider that a sign 6.3metres wide and 3.3metres high would be visibly intrusive to neighbouring properties and be totally out of character with the houses the other side of the fence,” said clerk Eileen Shaw.
Sedgemoor District Council’s case officer has recommended the application is given consent, therefore the scheme will be considered by Sedgemoor’s Development Control Commitee next week for a final decision.
