A first meeting of the volunteers who will be helping to run Highbridge Library from later this autumn is to be held on Thursday (August 25th).
The open meeting to consider the way forward for Highbridge Library will take place at 7.30pm in Burnham and Highbridge Town Council Chambers in Jaycroft Road.
“People that have put their names forward as volunteers to help operate the library will be meeting to discuss their role in the project,” Denise Emery, Acting Town Clerk, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Any members of the public who have not already volunteered, but feel they may have time or skills to help with the library, and would like to know more about the scheme, are welcome to join the others at this first meeting of volunteers.”
Somerset County Council recently confirmed that funding for the library would be withdrawn with effect from 1st October and the Town Council has been negotiating a deal with the County Council to ensure a library service is retained in Highbridge using volunteers.
