Burnham-On-Sea library closes for a month from today for refurbishment

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s library has temporarily closed for a month while a refurbishment goes ahead.

During the closure, which began on Wednesday September 26th, self-service kiosks will be installed and some refurbishment will be undertaken.

The library is scheduled to re-open on October 29th at 9.30am.

During the closure, Highbridge Library will temporarily open for extended hours to cater for Burnham library users. The hours will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9.30am-5pm; Wednesdays and Saturdays 9.30am to 1pm.

Customers can also return and borrow items at any other Somerset Library and items can be renewed online here or by calling 0845 345 9177.

Burnham is the Somerset’s second library to move to self-service following its successful introduction at Taunton in July.

The touch-screen kiosks will allow customers to borrow, renew and return books and other items, as well as to check reservations and pay charges.

“This is an exciting development that I’m sure library users will embrace just as they have in Taunton,” Cabinet Member Councillor David Hall said this week. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused while the kiosks are installed but I’m sure the result will be more than worth it.”
