Burnham-On-Sea Royal British Legion branch unveils new standard

-

Burnham-On-Sea and District Royal British Legion unveiled its new standard during a special ceremony held on Sunday (April 22nd).

The group’s previous standard was formally ‘laid up’ in 2014 when the group previously folded.

However, the Burnham-On-Sea Legion branch has since reformed and is now thriving again with many new members, and hence a new standard has been formally unveiled during a special service at Burnham’s St Andrew’s Church.

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s MP James Heappey was among the guests, alongside Mayor Bill Hancock, Mayoress Frances Hancock and Deputy Mayor Andy Brewer.

Legion members, members of local cadets forces, and dignitaries also attended the service, which was led by St Andrew’s vicar Rev Graham Witts.

The Legion’s John Crosby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Now that the branch is active again, we were keen to have a new standard that can be proudly displayed at events such as Burnham’s Armed Forces Day parade in June.”
