Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council is to distribute dozens of lanterns to town centre businesses and residents as part of their build-up to Christmas.
The Town Council is offering all town centre businesses and residents the opportunity to have a lantern as part of its ‘Frostival’ celebration.
Town Centre Manager Bev Miner Simonds, pictured, said: “Burnham-On-Sea Town Council is looking ahead to the Christmas period and its plans are looking great!”
“There is street entertainment planned for every weekend in the run up to Christmas – including magicians, brass bands, lost elves, carollers, stilt walkers and a few surprises too. The festive celebrations, dubbed a ‘Frostival’, start with Burnham’s lights switch on Saturday 19th November.”
“The Town Council are also offering a free LED lantern to every business and household in the town centre to be placed in their window for the festival period. This is a simple plan to bring all the town centre together over the festive period by lighting up the hundreds of windows; on the main streets but also on the side streets too. I hope that everyone will say yes to being a part of lighting up the town every evening.”
“We had a great response to the lanterns last year and we have a further batch to offer to new residents and businesses in the town centre. People need to get in touch if they would like one with their name and address.”
“We have decided to continue with the Frostival brand because the events start a long time before Advent and the traditional Christmas season. So, Frostival isn’t some anti-Christian idea – its about being inclusive to all the various events from late November right up to the midnight Mass services, without dropping the Christmas word too early!”
