Over £2,400 has been raised for a local breast cancer support charity from a successful ladies night held at Brean over the weekend.
Somerset Breast Cancer Now – formerly known as Somerset Breakthrough Breast Cancer – held its annual ladies night on Friday 9th October at Dickies Bar in Brean.
Organiser Holly Macbeth, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We raised a staggering £2434.20 which is a totally amazing figure and surpasses all previous years!”
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity once again from all who came and supported the night. It was full of laughs, fun, happy tears and all for such a worthy cause for Breast Cancer Now.”
“We would like to say a special mention to all the team at Brean Leisure Park for letting us hold the event once again and donating raffle prizes, including one special henry the giraffe who was auctioned off and raised £120! Also thanks to Sadie hairdresser, Unwind hair & beauty salon, and special cupcakes made by Sam Pashley & Forever Living for their donated raffle prizes.”
“A big thanks goes to The Dream Men for making the night so successful once again.”
She added; “Right now, breast cancer is at a tipping point. More women are surviving. But more are being diagnosed than ever before. And every 45 minutes, another woman dies from the disease. We’re going to change that. By doing whatever it takes, however we can, working tirelessly every day. We’re bringing together the brightest minds, the boldest fundraisers and the most determined campaigners. And we need you to join us. Because if we all act now, by 2050, we believe everyone who develops breast cancer will live.”
Somerset Breast Cancer Now Group’s next events will be on 22nd November when Shop for a cure returns for Christmas 10.30-3pm. The charity’s ball will also be held on 5th December at 7pm at The Batch.
