Bosses at a Burnham-On-Sea food shop are celebrating this week after winning a top award for its disabled access.
Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported last month that Kyffins in Victoria Street had been nominated for a 2008 ‘Accessible Somerset Award’ by a member of the public.
Shop owner Tom Kyffin attended a ceremony in Taunton on Wednesday (December 3rd) to find out if his business had won – and was delighted to learn he had.
Proudly holding his certificate, Tom told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re over the moon to have won! The nomination came out of the blue. We do pride ourselves on running a shop that is easily accessible by disabled customers and we’re delighted this has been recognised.”
The judges included disabled people and representatives from the Councils Equalities Officers Group, and the awards are being run by Somerset County Council and Sedgemoor District Council.
