Members of a Berrow Kung Fu group are celebrating success at the national championships.
The youngsters – all of whom are members of Berrow’s Kung Fu Club – attended the Fei Lung Kwan National Junior Championships in Horton, Berkshire.
They competed against other participants from across the UK, including Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex and Somerset.
“It was a great competition with high spirits and competitiveness,” the club’s leader Patrick Barber told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The club did exceptionally well, with all six local students achieving a top-three place in their individual age categories.
Local winners included: 9 Years and Under: 1st Faith Hooper (Berrow), 2nd Drew Seabourne (Berrow), 3rd Andreas Laoutaris (Berrow); 10 – 12 Years: 1st Jacob Nelson (Berrow), 2nd Naya Dhiman (Stanwell, Middlesex), 3rd Yeshelle Dhiman (Stanwell, Middlesex), 13 – 15 Years: 1st Rhiana Sinclair (Berrow), 2nd Sophie Butt (Berrow), 3rd James Kellett (Wendover, Bucks).
All students and parents plus the instructors from the other classes celebrated at a beautiful Chinese restaurant in Wraysbury, Berks.
“The following day the students and parents went to Thorpe Park and had a thrilling and enjoyable day. Travel, hotel accommodation, meals and drinks for the students, plus entry to Thorpe Park and breakfast was all paid for by the Berrow Class funds with money raised from cake and tombola stalls, bag packing and, last but by no means least, a 24 hour training session which all the students thoroughly enjoyed,” added Patrick.
