High-kicking Berrow Kung Fu group achieves clean sweep

-

High-kicking members of Berrow-based Kung Fu group Fei Lung Kwan won 11 of the 12 awards on offer at the National Junior Championships at the weekend.

The martial arts group travelled to Middlesex where they won first and third in the 5-7 age group; the top three places in the 8-10 age category, and the same spots in the 11-15 group.

Jacob Nelson won the ‘Master’s Award’ for an exceptional performance on the day in which he earned the fifth highest total score at the age of 7.

Chloe Reynolds won the ‘Master’s Award’ for ‘Dedication & Loyalty’ and at the age of nine achieved the second highest score!

And Harrison Barber, the son of group leader Patrick Barber, pictured right, won the overall championship after achieving the highest score.

Patrick told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was delighted at how the students had performed against the other students from Bucks, Berks, Middlesex and Somerset.

He added: “What a fantastic result for the Berrow students! The group only had two entries in the 5-7 age group, which is why we didn’t win all three places in that age group!”
