Burnham artists get knitting needles at the ready for fundraiser!

-

Knitting needles and yarns of wool will be the focus for members of the Highbridge and Burnham Artists group (HABA) this Saturday (March 19th) when they hold an unusual fundraising event.

The group, pictured, is organising a sponsored knit from 9.45am-12 noon at Burnham Community Centre in Berrow Road.

Organiser Lesley Filce told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Following goverment arts cutbacks, HABA’s funding has been cut and we need to raise funds to continue with our work in the community.”

“This Saturday, we will be aiming to knit a number of squares to create a chess board in line with the Alice in Wonderland theme of this year’s summer arts festival.”

She added that knitters and sponsors who wish to support the event are welcome to come along on the day.

This year’s arts festival will take place on July 15th, 16th and 17th in Highbridge’s Apex Park.
