A local housing provider held a popular resident festival in Highbridge this week.

Knightstone Housing’s first resident ‘festival’ event of the year was held at King Alfred School in the town.

The event offered a free, fun, family day out, and was attended by many Knightstone residents, as well as members of the local community.

Knightstone Directors, and Board member Jacqui Cross attended, and Burnham and Highbridge MP Tessa Munt popped along to show her support.

The event gave residents the opportunity to meet the Knightstone Team who work in their area, find out what services they provide and how they can access them, including housing and benefit advice.

Money and energy saving advice was provided by the Centre for Sustainable Energy, Highbridge Residents Association and John West. John West gave a hands on demonstration showing people how to fix issues such as leaking taps and blocked sinks and provided a demonstration on energy saving light bulbs.

The event was supported by local companies including the local Police service, Fire Brigade, St Johns Ambulance, and many others.

Visitors were kept busy with circus skills, jewellery making, football coaching and willow weaving, and were encouraged to collect stamps from the stalls to be entered into a prize draw.

Mark Beard, Director of Customers and Community Operations at Knightstone, said: “We wanted our residents to learn about the services we offer, as well as those provided by other organisations in a fun, friendly environment. It’s been a great event that’s given us the bopportunity to engage with residents and people from the local community, and partner with local organisations to address residents’ concerns and offer advice.”

One resident who attended the event said: “It’s been a great day and I’ve learnt a lot about the services Knightstone provide. I’ll definitely attend more events like this in the future.”
