Burnham-On-Sea firefighters tackled a small blaze at a shop in Highbridge early on Saturday morning (October 29th).
Crews were sent to a business in Church Street, opposite the entrance to King Street, at 5.46am after reports that smoke was billowing from the roof of the property in a row of terraced premises.
“After gaining access to the ground floor, crews found a small fire which they extinguished using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The cause of the fire is thought to be due to a paper file being positioned too close to a night storage heater.”
“This resulted in moderate smoke damage to the ground floor of the premises.”
