The ladies of Burnham-On-Sea’s Inner Wheel Club have filled dozens of shoeboxes with Christmas gifts to be sent to needy families in Romania.
Members of the group got together this week to fill 70 shoeboxes, as they have been doing for many years in the run-up to the festive season.
The group’s Sandra Moon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Inner Wheel have filled 70 shoe
boxes with items for men, women, children and babies to send to Romania for Christmas, especially children in orphanages who get very little.”
She added: “All the items are donated and include baby wear, scarves, jumpers, hats, toys and toiletries.”
“Once the boxes are filled they are sealed and covered with Christmas paper and the boxes are then taken to Bridgwater to SWEEPS – South Western England European Prayer and Support – who send lorries full of boxes to Romania for Christmas.”
“The Inner Wheel Club have been doing this for many years and know the joy it gives.”
