A Burnham-On-Sea youngster is celebrating achieving a top medal at the national gymnastics championships.
Kian Hawkes is a Year 6 student at St Andrew’s Junior School in Burnham-On-Sea and a member of Highbridge’s Monarchs Gymnastics Club.
He travelled to Stoke-on-Trent to compete at the National Championships where he won a silver medal in the boys’ floor gymnastics event.
The result also earned him a place in the British youth development squad – a great achievement.
Proud Kian was re-presented with his medal during the school’s latest celebration assembly, where the pupils also got to watch a video clip of his performance.
“The whole school community has enjoyed sharing in his success and everyone at St Andrew’s is really proud,” the school’s Jim Gillard told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
