The Chairman of Burnham-On-Sea’s Community Centre has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, which was announced last night (Friday, June 14th).
Ken Hindle has been awarded a British Empire Medal for services to adult education, it was announced.
Ken has been the long-standing President of Burnham-On-Sea University of the Third Age. He is also the outgoing Chairman of Burnham and Highbridge Community Association.
Ken told Burnham-On-Sea.com he is “hugely honoured” to have been chosen for the award. “It was a great surprise and I am very grateful. I have had a lot of pleasure in serving Burnham’s community over the years.”
He has been involved in many projects at the Community Centre in Berrow Road over the past three decades, including the recent £200,000 refurbishment of the building which was completed in 2011 and was featured here.
