The man behind Burnham-On-Sea’s successful Pubwatch scheme has this week been presented with a top award for his work in reducing pub crime in the town.
Keith Holman, who owns The Lighthouse pub in Highbridge Road, was nominated for the award by Burnham-On-Sea’s police for his work in helping to reduce disorder and crime.
This week, he travelled to Birmingham to join 370 people from across the country who were receiving one of the government’s brand new ‘Respect Awards’.
These are presented to those who contribute the most to stamping down anti-social behaviour and other community problems.
Keith, who is chairman of Burnham’s Pubwatch scheme, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a brilliant day. The nomination came from Burnham Police’s Martin Childs and Mark Nicholson and was a complete surprise – I’m very pleased to receive it. A great deal of work has gone into making our Pubwatch scheme here in Burnham successful..”
Keith also received a sum of money to be spent on the community – some of which is being earmarked for a new speed gun to help police crack down on speeding motorists along Marine Drive.
