Spirits not dampened at rain-swept King Alfred School summer fair

-

Heavy downpours of rain failed to dampen spirits at the annual King Alfred School Summer Fair in Highbridge on Sunday afternoon (July 6th).

A large crowd of pupils, friends and families filled the school’s main hall where stalls, music, entertainment and traditional games were laid on.

Organiser Jean-Paul Hoskins, Chairman of King Alfred School’s PTA, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We feared the event would be a wash out due to the weather, but in fact we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the number of people here.”

“We expect to have raised a good sum towards various activities for children whose families are unable to afford them themselves.”

The King Alfred School African Drumming Group provided a lively line-up of music

William Ashley-Brown and Chris Vickery of Burnham and District Model Railway Club gave a demonstration at Sunday’s event

Traditional games at the event included ‘roll a penny’

Overseeing the event’s bouncy castle were the Sports Centre’s Amanda Johnson and Lee Vaughan

The tombola stall was run by Lin and Sarah Lester
