The long-running Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Highbridge’s King Alfred School is under threat of closure due to a lack of volunteers, its leaders have warned this week.
The King Alfred School Association, which has raised thousands of pounds for vital school equipment including a minibus, has said it may have to close down this year unless more supporters can be found.
“Without support, the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) will close at the end of the financial year,” the school’s Simon Aylward told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week.
“Our school PTA supports the school in many ways but is finding it hard to continue, with low numbers of volunteers.”
“It would be difficult for the school to maintain its sporting fixtures without the minibus bought with funds raised by KASA.”
“Additionally, some students would also miss out on opportunities for trips without support from KASA.”
