Highbridge’s King Alfred School has held a graduation celebration for pupils of Year 8.
The Year 8 pupils celebrated their graduation from the end of Key Stage Three before starting their GCSE courses in year 9.
Fiona William and Jacob Kemp, pictured above, were chosen as the ‘Pride of Year 8’ for their contribution to school life in and outside of lessons.
David Herbert, Assistant Headteacher, said: “With food prepared by the school’s budding chefs, year 10 being front of house, and those that attended to receive their certificates, the students yet again proved to be a credit to parents/carers that we see every day.”
“Congratulations to all our year 8 students for their hard work and commitment! Special mention must also go to our interval dancers Holly Sanders and Emma Orledge with a beautifully choreographed piece.”
“Miss Charles also delivered an inspiring and motivating speech written by Melanie Bax about her son Joe who sadly died in 2015. Joe was a strong member of our school community and his fight with cancer and positive attitude at all times is something we will always remember.”
“Finally Mr Tipler had the unenviable task of selecting his pride of year 8 winners to round off the evening. After much deliberation, the awards went to Fiona William and Jacob Kemp for their amazing contribution to school life in and outside of lessons.”
