Large crowds flocked to a Jubilee Fun Day at Burnham-On-Sea’s BAY Centre on Monday afternoon (June 4th).
The event, pictured here, saw scores of activities, games and music acts laid on to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
Monarchs Gymnastics Club and the Coastal Cloggers were among the many local groups performing at the event.
There were also many traditional activities, including egg and spoon racing, and live music from local acts.
Olympic torchbearer Tony Deahl was also in attendance, letting youngsters see and touch his torch and have their photo taken with it.
Organiser Tanya Dyer told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended – it was great to see so many people, both adults and children alike, from the local community coming together and enjoying themselves.”
“This is exactly what we wanted to achieve – it was a fantastic day. Without the efforts of those who so generously gave their support, time, talents and equipment this would have been impossible so many thanks to all of them.”
“The displays from local groups were fantastic and showed just a small portion of the fabulous things that are happening everyday in Burnham and Highbridge, with many unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it a better place for all.”
“It’s a great place to be and it was good to be able to celebrate this as well the Queens Diamond Jubilee. We have also raised funds to put back into the community.”
Julia Elswood from the BAY Centre said the event had been “a great success – everyone had a wonderful afternoon”. All those who supported the event and attended were thanked. Burnham’s Mayor, Ken Smout, also called in to present the BAY Centre with a certificate to thank them for their community work.
