Vehicles seized by police in Burnham-On-Sea amid ‘joyriding’ concern

-

Burnham-On-Sea Police say they have seized several vehicles in the town amid concern from residents regarding ‘joyriding’ and anti-social driving.

As we first reported here last week, concerned residents and councillors in Burnham-On-Sea have called on local police to do more to halt the problem of joyriding in the town.

PC Ryan Dinham, pictured, from Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “While dangerous driving in Burnham has reduced, we know the problem does still arise.”

“This year alone we have seized vehicles for excess noise or driving without valid insurance. Drivers have also been reported to court for driving without a license.”

“Where we have been made aware of specific incidents we will attend and take action.”

“It is really important that people report dangerous driving to us so we can tackle the issue.”

“That is why we encourage people to contact us using either the online form, calling 101, or if someone is currently driving dangerously and putting themselves and other road users at risk, dial 999.”

The Police say they are always looking for new members of the Community SpeedWatch in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge. To find out more, and to get involved, click here.
