Staff at a Burnham-On-Sea restaurant are celebrating this week after winning a top food hygiene award.
JJ Welsh’s Tea Rooms in the High Street was presented with a Somerset Hygiene Award for its “exceptional high standards” of food hygiene, training and food management.
Sedgemoor’s Senior Environment Health Officer Sarah Knife is pictured presenting the restaurant’s owners, Jeff and Jackie Welsh, with their award.
Sarah told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We inspect many dozens of premises across the Sedgemoor area, and JJ Welsh’s has gone above and beyond what’s required to earn this award. They have shown exceptionally high standards of food hygiene and have done fantastically well.”
Delighted Mr Welsh added: “We’re delighted – it’s a great reward for our staff, Jackie and myself after so much work has gone into ensuring our food is of a consistently high standard.”
JJ Welsh’s is one of just two restaurants in Burnham-On-Sea to have earned the award, with the other one being Fortes Ice Cream Parlour in Pier Street.
