More than 120 fun runners braved sub-zero temperatures to take part in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual ‘Christmas Jingle Run’ this morning (Sunday, December 20th).

Slippery pavements caused by the wintry weather led organisers to switch the route of the course at the last minute from The Esplanade to the beach.

The four-mile course began next to the town’s jetty and saw the runners wend their way along the sand past the low lighthouse to Berrow Church and back, while the shorter children’s fun run saw the participants race to Maddock’s Slade and back. Click here for results.

Organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, the race was hailed a success. The academy’s Martin Rogers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a very good turnout of runners considering the bitterly cold weather and with each runner wearing a jingle bell or Christmas costume, there was a real festive feel.”
