Dozens of fun runners took part in Burnham-On-Sea’s first ‘Christmas Jingle Run’ on the town’s seafront on Sunday (December 21st).
Fourty eight runners jogged around the four-mile fun run course, which started on The Esplanade and took in the Yacht Club and Apex Park before returning back to the seafront and finishing next to the bandstand.
Organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, the race was won by local runner Kevin Crenel in 22 minutes and four seconds. Second was Jason Emmett in 22:59 and third was Julian Bailey-Gordon in 24:34.
For most runners, though, their finishing time was irrelevant – it was the taking part. Organiser Martin Rogers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a good turnout of runners for this first event and, with each runner wearing a jingle bell or Christmas costume, there was a real festive feel.”
Runners were aged from teenagers up to 72. Each finisher was given a mince pie on finishing the course and a pair of socks emablazoned with a Swim and Sports Academy logo.
