Burnham’s storm-damaged jetty will re-open in time for the busy Easter holiday period.
Sedgemoor District Council issued a statement on Monday (February 19th) confirming that the jetty would open by April – and that plans to increase the cost of launch permits to fund the repairs have been deferred until next year.
Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “In the immediate short term the plan is to open the jetty ready for the Easter holiday season.”
“This will involve the construction of a barrier and marker posts to prevent access to the damaged area, but will still allow for launching.”
“A full options report is being prepared for a permanent solution to address the deteriorated state of the jetty and this report will go to the Executive for a decision in May.”
“The permit will remain the same for this year, but will be looked at next year, as it always is in the scale of fees and charges.”
