Burnham-On-Sea jetty re-opens as £80,000 repairs are completed

-

An £80,000 project to repair Burnham-On-Sea’s crumbling jetty has been completed this week.

Sedgemoor District Council embarked on a scheme to restore the crumbling structure to its former glory, as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com earlier this year.

The work, performed by contractors Boley and Skuse, started in September and has involved several large sections of the missing road surface being replaced, coping stones being re-set and the flank walls being repaired.

The jetty is now fully re-open to the public for the first time in more than two years, including the lower half which was cordoned off for safety reasons.

The district council had said earlier in the year that it wanted to re-open the jetty in time for Burnham’s annual seafront fireworks display, which takes place on Sunday.
