Burnham jazz club’s black tie ball raises £1,600 for Afghan Heroes

-

Over £1,600 has been raised for the soldiers’ charity Afghan Heroes during a jazz ball organised by a club of musicians based in the Burnham-On-Sea area.

Jazz band ‘Adrian Cox and his Chosen Six’ performed at the black tie ball at the Webbington Hotel last Friday.

The BD Jazz Club is based in Burnham and meets on the last Friday of every month at the Laburnum House Lodge Hotel in West Huntspill where they play traditional and New Orleans style jazz.

Organiser Bob Reynolds told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The BD Jazz Club committee were overwhelmed by the support and success of their first annual charity ball. The total sum of £1651.50 was raised thanks to the generosity of local businesses in Burnham and Highbridge, Pawlett, Cheddar and Shepton Mallett.”

“A special thank you to Skidmarx Bicycles, Burnham Holiday Village, Shickle Shoes and Haskins for their exceptional kindness in such hard times and to everyone who attended.”

BD Jazz Club is a non-profit making organisation that aims to preserve and promote New Orleans and traditional jazz.
