A Burnham-On-Sea martial arts instructor has become the region’s highest-ranking lady in the sport of Tae Kwon-Do.

Jane Lambert, who runs Burnham’s Gemini Tae Kwon-Do club, is the only woman across the whole south west to achieve a 6th Degree Master Black Belt.

“I am very proud to have reached this grade after training for 24 years and teaching for 20 years,” she said.

She was formally presented with her certificate this week by Master Michael Dew, an 8th Degree Black Belt.

Jane was part of the TAGB National Team for many years and has been a successful international competitor in Traditional Patterns, Sparring and Destruction. She was awarded TAGB International Fighter of the Year in 1999 and has amassed an amazing six world titles.

She was congratulated by the Burnham club’s members this week, pictured above, who have all achieved their grading certifications.

The club welcomes newcomers from age 6 upwards on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm in King Alfred School.

“The sport is a great way to instill self-confidence and build discipline and is suitable for all age groups,” added Jane.
