-

Olympic diver Peter Waterfield has presented a talented Burnham-On-Sea law student with a sought-after award in Weston.

Former King Alfred School student Jade Kaye, 18, was presented with the John Hodge Solicitors’ Award for ‘Outstanding Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) Student’ at Weston College’s recent Celebration of Success night.

Around 260 people, including other prize-winners, their families, college staff and local dignitaries, attended the recent ceremony in the Winter Gardens.

Principal Dr Paul Phillips said: “Jade achieved distinctions for all three modules of the ILEX certificate. She also achieved 100% in her ICT skills exam.”

“She has now progressed to the Level 3 Professional ILEX Diploma and hopes to continue her ILEX training to the next level so that she can become a Paralegal in a firm of local solicitors.”

Olympic diver Peter Waterfield was the keynote speaker at the ceremony and also helped present the prizes during the evening. Nearly five million TV viewers in the UK watched Peter win the first medal for Britain at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He is set to defend his gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne during March.
