Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove Community Gardener has received the Mayor’s Cup in recognition of her efforts towards Burnham’s entry in the Britain in Bloom competition.
Jacqui Strong, right, was presented with the award at the Marine Cove AGM by Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Ken Smout.
Burnham’s Marine Cove, on The Esplanade, entered the Royal Horticultural Society’s Neighbourhood in Bloom comepition earlier this year and was awarded ‘outstanding’ for a second year running.
Jacqui told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was an honour and surprise to receive the cup. Whilst my name is on the plaque, it would not have happened without the support and assistance of all the volunteers who help with the project at Marine Cove. They work hard to make Marine Cove a relaxing place to visit as this is very much a community-led project.”
The Burnham In Bloom awards presentation evening will be held at the Town Council Chambers in Jaycroft Road this coming Friday (November 23rd) at 7.30pm.
