Concern for inflatable dinghy users prompts call-out for lifeboat

-

A Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat was launched on Tuesday evening (June 2nd) amid fears that these youngsters could be swept away in their inflatable dinghies in Bridgwater Bay.

A seafront walker raised the alarm after three inflatable boats were seen being taken out into the sea on the falling tide, prompting a 999 call to Coastguards at 6.15pm.

Burnham’s D-Class Puffin lifeboat was launched from the beach, as pictured below, and a team of Burnham Coastguards was also quickly on the scene.

A Coastguard spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “All three boats managed to get back to the shore safely, but the first informant did the right thing in alerting us to what could have become a serious situation.”
