A Burnham-On-Sea school which has been forced to close for a week due to power supply problems has issued an update for parents.
We reported here that Burnham-On-Sea Infant School had sent its pupils home last Wednesday (April 17th) and advised parents that it would not re-open until Wednesday April 24th.
On Saturday, the school issued a statement on its website, saying: “The inspection is progressing well. I apologise that it is taking a considerable amount of time. This is due to the severity of the incident on Wednesday that has resulted in the need to check every wire, circuit, socket and light fitting across the school and then PAT test all the electrical equipment to ensure it is all completely safe.”
“Usually just PAT testing our equipment takes two days so it is a lengthy process. There has been a large team working in school immediately following the incident, including over the weekend. I understand that the school being closed causes significant issues for families and if there had been any alternative we would have stayed open.”
“On Monday morning April 22nd between 8:45 and 10am the children’s bookbags will be available for collection from the reception playground area. You will find some activity sheets inside to suppliment the activities on the class pages.”
“We are happy for you to arrange for another parent to pick up your child’s bookbag for you if you are unable to get there yourself. We thank you for your patience in this difficult situation.”
