A Burnham-On-Sea charity set up in memory of a teenager who took his own life is to inviting local people to join its new ‘ambassadors scheme’.
Charley Marks, 18, took his own life in September 2014 and the charity ‘In Charley’s Memory’ was set up using his name to support young people and those affected by mental health.
Thanks to funding from Sedgemoor District Council, the charity is looking for people over the age of 18 to join their Ambassadors scheme.
“Ambassadors will receive training in Mental Health First Aid as well as resources, support and ongoing mentoring,” explained Joanna Burridge-Clayton from the group.
“Part of their role is to increase awareness of mental health issues amongst their peers and to help tackle the stigma around mental health issues.”
