Wintry scenes like these could be making a return to Burnham-On-Sea over the next fortnight as a period of icy winter weather arrives.
A yellow warning of icy conditions has been issued by the Met Office for the Burnham area on Saturday and Sunday at the start of a cold snap which could bring snow in the days to come.
“Outbreaks of rain and sleet will gradually clear southwards on Saturday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will then fall rapidly, leading to a risk of icy surfaces,” said a spokesman.
Temperatures in Burnham are predicted to reach no higher than 2°C on Sunday and fall as low as -4°C.
The cold snap is being caused by an area of high pressure developing over Scandinavia. Cold air moving in from the Baltic and western Russia will clash with milder air and Atlantic weather systems arriving from the west, with the UK directly underneath.
