A Burnham-On-Sea man has been presented with a Queen’s Award for 20 years of frontline work with the town’s ambulance service.
Ian Cornish received the award, accompanied by his wife, during South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust’s annual awards ceremony held at Monks Yard Business Centre near Ilminster.
A total of 32 members of staff were presented with a variety of accolades to acknowledge their dedication and commitment to the service. The award recipients for long service and good conduct have given 330 years of combined service between them.
A number of local dignitaries attended, including the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Lady Gass. The award winners and their guests were also joined by NHS Foundation Trust’s Chief Executive Ken Wenman, and Chairwoman Heather Strawbridge.
Mr Wenman said: “I was delighted to honour the staff. They are the trust’s greatest asset and it gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the excellent job they carry out. This is often in very difficult and challenging situations.”
