Burnham-On-Sea pub manager pedals for Macmillan Cancer Support

-

Two Hungry Horse pub managers from Burnham-On-Sea and Wales are set to take on a 265-mile cycle challenge that will see them pass through six counties during a week of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mark Robson, manager of the Rosewood in Burnham, and Daniel Merchant from the Three Elms in Cardiff will start their challenge at 10am on Monday 21st September from Llanelli.

The pair will then visit every pub that makes up what is known in Hungry Horse as ‘Area 46’.

This will take them through Mid Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, the area known as Avon, plus Somerset and Devon.

They hope to complete their journey at the Sloop Inn in Newton Abbott at around 4pm on Saturday 26th September.

The challenge is part of a week of fundraising by more than 240 Hungry Horse pubs across the UK to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, coinciding with the charity’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Mark, who organised the challenge, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I would not necessarily say we are keen cyclists but we can hold on own.”

“However, this challenge is like nothing we have done before and we need all the support and motivation we can get, so it would be great to see lots of customers at each pub on Area 46 greeting us as we arrive and plenty of donations coming in as well. Macmillan is a great cause and we would love to smash our target.”

The duo have set up a JustGiving page for anyone who would like to donate, which is at https://www.justgiving.com/tourof46
