-

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews tackled a house blaze in the town on Thursday afternoon (December 20th).

Three fire crews rushed to the property in Highbridge Road, Burnham at 12.56pm after flames were seen coming out of an upstairs window.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to enter the building and then used hose reels to extinguish the blaze in which a bedroom was well alight.

“The fire service received a number of calls reporting the fire in the upstairs of the property,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Two crews from Burnham were sent to the scene and an additional fire appliance from Bridgwater was also mobilised after visual confirmation of flames coming from an upstairs window.”

“Crews used a total of four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, a thermal image camera, a triple extension ladder and a positive pressure ventilation to extinguish the fire which severely damaged a first floor bedroom. The fire caused smoke damage to the remainder of the property.”

A police spokesman added that there had been no injuries.
