Premier Inn heading to Highbridge? Talks underway over new hotel

-

Scores of new jobs could be set to be created in Highbridge when a new hotel opens on the town’s Isleport Business Park as part of a £14m investment.

Talks are currently underway between the owners of the site next to Bennett Road and potential hotel operators – who are believed to include Premier Inn and Travelodge.

“Contractual negotiations” have begun, Sedgemoor District Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week.

Spokeswoman Claire Faun said: “Significant activity is underway on site on the Isleport Business Park, with 12-15 acres of additional space currently being brought forward.”

“Activity includes a new Aldi superstore which is currently in planning, a hotel which is currently in contractual negotiations, a new distribution business which was consented before Christmas, and 14 small business units which are currently in planning.”

“The Highbridge Enterprise Centre is full and its expansion is mostly pre-let. Collectively, projects secured will equate to around £14m of investment.”

A proposed Aldi supermarket and fast food drive-thru McDonalds restaurant could also be coming to the site, as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The development site is next to the entrance to the business park and is within easy reach of the A38 and M5 motorway, making it attractive to potential hotel operators.
