Burnham firefighters investigate blaze at site of former Highbridge Hotel

-

These were the scenes in Highbridge on Tuesday evening (November 10th) when firefighters from Burnham were called to tackle a blaze at the site of the former Highbridge Hotel.

They rushed to the cattle market site next to the derelict Highbridge Hotel after local residents raised the alarm amid concern that a large bonfire was burning out of control, as pictured here.

However, a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was some concern from nearby residents, but the fire was checked over by the crews and they were satisfied that it was burning in a controlled manner.”

The former Highbridge Hotel was left in an unstable condition following a huge blaze in April 2008. Burnham-On-Sea.com unveiled in July the renovation plans for the building and work on the renovation has been progressing in recent weeks.
