The Friends of Burnham Hospital have thanked the former Chairman of the group who has stepped down after three decades of work.
A special function was held on Friday evening (July 29th) to thank Tony Deahl for his work and dedication.
Tony decided in early June that he had ‘served his time’ and stepped down as the Chairman of the group after serving on the committee for more than 30 years and being Chairman for 20 years.
During that time he saw many changes to the hospital, including the purchase and equipping of the Peter Holmes Annexe, the provision of a Conservatory, a complete refurbishment of the Hospital and the total refurbishment of the Courtyard Garden.
“In recognition of his long and devoted service, the committee have had a whip-round and purchased a gift in recognition of all the hard work that he has done in the past for the Friends,” said the new Chairman, Bernard Spilsbury.
“We invited Tony and Wendy, his wife, to the hospital so that we can present this to him.”
“At the same time we also recognised that Wendy has put up with him disappearing to sort out various requests and also has served ‘her time’ running the Tea Tent at Fetes for the last 10 years.”
“We wish them both well for the future, safe in the knowledge that we can tap them up for help in the future!”
