Friends of Burnham Hospital given £4,428 boost at Brean festival

-

The Friends of Burnham-On-Sea Hospital have been given a huge financial boost thanks to the country and western fans at Brean.

The biggest Country and Western Festival in Europe took place at the beginning of October in Brean.

And The Friends of Burnham Hospital, supported by Northam Farm, were the nominated charity to benefit from the event and we were in attendance for the entire nine days.

Ceri Joyce, Vice Chairman of the Friends, said: “It is an occasion which has to be seen to be believed. There were Cowboys, Indians, Mexicans and every other persuasion of Western life.”

“The costumes were amazing and the thousands of people who moved into Brean for the experience really threw themselves into the whole event. The ladies looked particularly stunning and sometimes had several costume changes per day, all managed within the confines of a caravan!”

“The entertainment carried on throughout the day and ranged from Line Dancing in the mornings to Live Acts with top class Country and Western musicians going on well into the night.”

“The Friends were in attendance in the foyer of The Seagull each day from 10am to 10pm with stalls selling Cards, Wooden Bird Boxes and Themed Doorstops! We were also allowed to visit all the Venues with our Collection Buckets and were astounded at the generosity of all who attended.”

“We raised a staggering £4,428 in just 9 days and of course all the proceeds will go to our Hospital.”

“We cannot thank Northam Farm enough for their benevolence and support. We sincerely hope that other venues will offer similar support to us in 2019.”
