Dr Liam Fox MP made a special visit to a local hospice on Friday (18th November) which serves people across the Burnham-On-Sea area.
He visited Weston Hospicecare where he met with Gill Auden, Chief Executive, before meeting staff, volunteers and patients during a tour of the facilities.
Dr Fox said: “The essence of why Weston Hospicecare is so successful is that it gives patients the time that they need to feel individual and unique which can often be missing in larger medical organisations. We must never underestimate how much this helps them to deal with their illness.”
Gill Auden, Chief Executive at Weston Hospicecare, added: “We are very grateful for his support and enjoyed showing him our facilities and the work we do.”
“We support over 1,300 people each year who are living with a life-limiting illness and only receive 19% of our £3million running costs from the government. Support from key stakeholders such as Dr Fox is vital in helping us to reach our targets.”
