Over 500 entries go on display at 42nd Burnham-On-Sea Horticultural Show

More than 500 entries went on display at the 42nd annual Burnham-On-Sea Horticultural Show over the weekend (August 8th and 9th).

The two-day event was held at Sanders Garden World at Brent Knoll and featured ten sections and 133 classes.

The entries included amateur photography, pot plants, flowers, wines, fruit, vegetables, floral art, junior, domestic, handicraft, such as hand-made cards, crochet and knitted items and cross stitch.

“We had around 500 entries, which was about the same as last year,” David Bryant, a member of Burnham-On-Sea & District Horticultural Society, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We were slightly down on the number of cut flowers, but there were more entries in the cookery and handicraft classes.”

A steady flow of visitors attended the garden centre throughout the event, which ended on Sunday evening when Sanders Garden World’s manager Peter Burks presented the trophies and awards to the winners.

John Inder, pictured above, scooped five trophies and a medal for his entries while Nathan Selway, pictured at the top of this page, won the Jubilee Cup and a trophy in the dahlia classes.
