A group of green-fingered Burnham-On-Sea residents was celebrating on Saturday (March 11th) after winning trophies at the town’s Spring horticultural show.
More than 200 entries were submitted at the annual Horticultural Society Spring Show, which features gardening, cookery, floral art and photography.
Les Wallis, Society Treasurer, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The number of entries was down on last year, but the quality was excellent. A great deal of dedication has been put in by people.”
And Monica Huntley, Acting President, added: “It’s been a long winter and many entrants would probably have benefited from have an extra week. Very little is out in the gardens yet, but we’ve still seen a high standard of entries from indoor growers.”
Trophies were awarded to F Wynn (most points), F Wynn and A Pearce (best exhibit), A Purnell (David Sass trophy), Catriona Newman (Photography Cup), F Wynn and A Pearce (Havage Cup), Mrs H Bryant (Joan Sass Cup), L Earl, F Wynn, M Huntley and Sarah White (1993 Cup), Joan White (Huntley Cup), B Whetstone (Floral Art Cup) and L Earl (Society Cup).
