Stuck horse box pulled to safety on Berrow beach by Burnham’s BARB

-

A horse box was rescued after getting stuck in soft sand on Berrow beach on Sunday afternoon (March 5th).

Brean’s beach warden called on the help of Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue shortly after 1.30pm when the vehicle’s front wheels sank into the wet sand on the high tide line.

Strop lines were attached to the stranded vehicle by BARB’s volunteer crewmembers and a tractor was used to haul the lorry free, as pictured here.

“The owners were very grateful for BARB’s help and made a kind donation to cover our charity’s costs,” said Mike Lowe, BARB Operations Manager.

He added: “BARB advises drivers on the beach to keep their vehicles on the hard sand, check the tide times and heed the warning signs – but on this occasion the horse box driver was just unlucky.”
