A horse trapped in a water-filled ditch in East Huntspill, near Burnham-On-Sea, was rescued by fire crews on Saturday afternoon (December 6th).
Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, Taunton, Street and Bridgwater were called out when the animal became stuck shortly before 3.30pm besides the Gold Corner Pumping Station.
A Special Rescue Unit from Bridgwater, a Rescue Tender from Taunton and a Command Support Unit from Street attended the scene, along with a fire crew from Burnham.
“The horse was released from the water-filled ditch by fire crews using strops and a farmer’s digger,” a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Crews trained in water rescue decided which was the best way to release the horse. The owner was in attendance and a vet was requested,” he added.
