Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called out on Wednesday afternoon (July 12th) to rescue a horse stuck in a water-filled ditch.
They rushed to Weston Road in Brean at 11.30am when a call was received from the animal’s owner to say it was exhausted and stranded.
A spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Fire Service received a call reporting a horse stuck in a water-filled rhyne. One fire appliance from Burnham On Sea and the specialist rescue team from Bridgwater attended.”
“Fire crews rescued the horse, which was 17 hands high, using animal rescue gear, specialist rescue equipment and the farmer’s tractor. The horse was attended to by a veterinary surgeon and left in the care of its owner.”
