Burnham-On-Sea fish and chip shop closed after fire drama

-

Bosses at Burnham-On-Sea Holiday Village are counting the cost of a fire which has closed the site’s fish and chip shop on Thursday (September 10th).

Two fire crews from Burnham were called to the park in Marine Drive at 4.55pm after reports that the Foodworks chip shop was on fire.

A fire brigade spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “On arrival, the crews found the chip fryer had ignited.”

“This was extinguished using one hose reel jet. Crews also used two breathing apparatus, a triple extension ladder, plus a ventilation fan and a thermal imaging camera.”

Burnham Holiday Village spokesman Josh Haywood told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The shop has been closed this evening and we’re still assessing the damage.”

“We may decide that not to open it again for the rest of our eight week season, depending on the amount of damage. There are several other food outlets on site for our guests.”
