The world’s third largest pizza chain will be opening in Burnham-On-Sea next year as part of a holiday park’s £850,000 investment programme.
A brand new Papa John’s pizza restaurant will open at Burnham Holiday Village in time for the start of next year’s tourist season.
The park’s owner, Haven Holidays, confirmed its winter expansion plans to Burnham-On-Sea.com this week.
Graham Plant, Burnham Holiday Village’s General Manager, said: “Our park has had a buoyant year, helped by the weakness in the Euro and the increasing tendency by holidaymakers to take affordable breaks at home during the recession.”
He added: “As part of this winter’s improvements, we’ll be introducing a Papa John’s pizza outlet, creating a new gym, revamping the lounge, creating a new lakeside pitch development and adding several new holiday lodges.”
He added that although the new pizza outlet will initially be targeted at on-site holidaymakers, Haven hopes to extend the business to provide food deliveries in the Burnham area in time.
Mr Plant told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the investment is likely to create new jobs at the park next year.
“The Holiday Village already increases the footfall through the town centre during the summer season, so it supports local businesses. These improvements show our confidence in investing not just in the park, but in Burnham as a holiday resort.”
Several other holiday parks in the Burnham area have also announced major investment programmes this year. Pontins at Brean is spending several million pounds on the modernisation of its site, while Brean’s Holiday Resort Unity has invested £1.5m in improvements, and Burnham’s Home Farm has spent £1.6m on a new leisure complex.
